LA POTERNE

Entre souvenir et accumulation

Au cœur de la ville de Saint Omer, j’ai choisi d’implanter une Greffe Architecturale à l’entrée de la Poterne (salle des garnisons). Située à l’entrée du jardin public elle aura pour fonction d’accueillir les visiteurs. Ils y passeront pour accéder à la poterne.

Il est important de conserver le bâti existant afin de préserver le patrimoine Audomarois.

Les caractéristiques de cette greffe est qu'elle met en avant un épisode historique de la ville de Saint Omer, où les souvenirs du passé se sont accumulés.

Le fait d’implanter cette greffe au centre de la ville permet de sensibiliser les passants à entrer.

La forme structurée de la façade fait référence aux anciens remparts de Vauban.

La poterne est un endroit où l’on vient apprendre, se cultiver. J’ai donc voulu accentuer ce rapport intérieur/extérieur en jouant sur différents types d’ouverture entre le niveau supérieur et inferieur de ce bâti.

Réhabilitation et création d'une greffe architecturale en un espace d'accueil pour visiter la poterne de Saint-Omer

I chose to implement an “architectural graft” at the entrance of the postern located in the heart of the city of Saint-Omer.

Located at the entrance of the park, the graft will welcome the visitors. The only way to go through the postern.

It's important to preserve the present building to keep the heritage of Audomarois.

This graft emphasizes the history of the city, where back then lot of things was written.

The Location in the center of the city, (raises awareness/ invite) of passers to come into.

The structured form of the façade reminder the ancient rampart of Vauban.

The postern is a place where we come in to learn and grow. I played with the ratio inside /outside and create different types of opening between the lower and upper part of the building.
